Show FAMILY HEARS FROM SON IN GERMAN PRISON Brief Letter Dated May 17 Reaches Family Here This Week .The family of Lt Vernon Tipton Tip-ton had reason to be happy Monday, Mon-day, when they received their first letter from Lt Tipton since he was taken prisoner by the Germans. Ger-mans. While the letter was dated May 17, it was not received until August Aug-ust 7 by hia wife, the former Norma Nor-ma Russell who, with their baby daughter, is visiting in Springville. Lt. Tipton was first reported missing April 29, when his plane went down near enemy territory after he had completed nearly fifty fif-ty missions. He stated in his letter that he was okeh and would be glad when it was all over. The letter was very brief and came from Stalag Luft No. 3 German prison camp. Lt. Tipton's mother, Mrs. Lula T. Witney, lives at 695 South, Second Sec-ond East. |
