Show gallant Ellen Bracken Church Members Are Snowed In Quite a number of the members mem-bers of the Ballard L D S Ward i are still snowed in or unable to start their cars thus they wers ! unable to attend church services ser-vices on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Jorgen-son Jorgen-son and family were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall during the holidays. Floyd Workman, Albin Anderson An-derson and John Smith, of Vernal, Ver-nal, were clearing roads at Al-terra Al-terra Thursday so coal could be delivered. No school was held last week because heavy snows had blocked all side roads. Ned Gines and son now are acting as custodians at the Ballard Bal-lard Church. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bracken were guests on New Years at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bracken in Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lybbert, of Moses Lake, Washington, have been guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Cook. Mrs. Lybert is Mr. Cook's sister. They also visited one day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner are the proud grandparents of a baby boy, born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner at Vernal, on December 31. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haddock and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Haddock, of Roosevelt, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Coston on New Year's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hatch visited in Lapoint one day last week. Mark Angus, of Provo, was in Roosevelt to attend funeral services for his grandfather, W. E. Lewis. He also visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus. Word was received Saturday of the death of Omer Secrest, of Moab. While prospecting with his two sons. Art and Ervin, he fell from a 75-foot cliff to his death. Mr. Secrest was Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Kettles' son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dean and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dean, of Salt Lake City, were here to attend funeral services for their uncle, Perry Dean. They were guests of their mother, Mrs. Ellen El-len Dean. Mr. and Mrs. Evans and two children went to Cedar City to spend the Christmas holidays. They returned to find the water in the house frozen. Edgar Womack was on the sick list last week. The family was snowed in and Mr. Womack was unable to reach a doctor until un-til the roads were opened up on Thursday. Darell McMullin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McMullin, went to Provo Saturday to enroll at the B Y U for the coming quarter. quar-ter. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle entertained en-tertained on New Year's for Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Kettle and Mr. and Mrs. Max Gardner and family, of Roosevelt. Bryce White. Glen Womack, Darell McMullin, Kenneth Long and Lynn Bracken left Saturday to resume their studies at the B Y U. Due to the highway being blocked they were unable to return sooner. |
