Show POLIO VACCINE PREDICTED BY U STUDENT Development o a successful vaccine vac-cine to prevent polio may come within the next three years, a University Uni-versity of Utah bacteriologist disclosed dis-closed in Salt Lake City this week. Speaking before the seven-state conference on polio held in Salt Lake this week, Dr. Louis P. Geb-hardt Geb-hardt of the University of Utah College of Medicine discussed recent re-cent research developments in the fight against infantile paralysis, explaining that the problem now is how to stimulate the body to fight polio without contracting the disease di-sease at the same time. Dr. Gebhardt directed one of four research projects, financed by the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis, that succeeded in establishing estab-lishing that there are three main types of virus which cause the disease. 1. All entries become the property prop-erty of the U. S. Treasury Department Depart-ment and none can be returned. 7. Entries will be judged on originality, sincerity, and aptness of thought. 8. Judging will be done by a selected group of representative citizens; their decisions will be final. 9. Prizes to be awarded to winners win-ners in this contest are the hats contributed to this "Bonnets for Bonds" contest by patriotic movie stars and other celebrities. Assignment Assign-ment of the "Bond Bonnets" to the -v arious winners will be by a method to be decided by the central committee. com-mittee. 10. At least one winner will be selected in each county. One additional ad-ditional winner will be designated in each of the three counties with the highest per capita participation in this contest. Additional winners will also be named in the more thickly populated counties, based on the percent of population (1950 official census figures) and number num-ber of bonnets available, in accordance accord-ance with a method to be decided by the central committee, whose decisions will be final. |
