Show EE-SAW ... tion spiral. Let us stop wasteful government s-oending. LET US PUT AN END TO HIGHER TAXES AND BEGIN, SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE TO START MAKING CUTS! Well, sir, the good American people took matters in to their own hands Tuesday, and voted in Republicans clear across the nation, na-tion, right down into the little towns and hamlets. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower swept into the presidency by an overwhelming margin, taking his running mate. Sen. Dick Nixon in as vice president, and very likely enough US senators and congressmen congress-men to give him a working advantage ad-vantage in the next four years. Sen. Arthur V. Watkins was returned re-turned to office; so was William A. Dawson, who was unseated in congress four years ago by Reva Beck Bosone. Gevernor J. Bracken Lee went, in on a comfortable margin. So did most of the men who will go to make up his elective aids. A swing to the Republican side of the voting ledger after some 20 years under the Democrats is a healthful thing. It has caused the two party system to survive. None should have control over-long over-long because dictatorial, self-empowered politicians take over, work their way in, and corruption becomes be-comes common; they demand tribute be paid them in one manner man-ner or another: favoritism takes over; egotism flourishes, and servants serv-ants of the people become the masters just what is NOT intended in-tended by the democratic principles of government. Now, President-elect Eisenhower and his aids have a new broom. . Let them make a clean sweep. Let us give this soldier, this leader, lead-er, this strong man our full support, sup-port, and backing. Let us see some international diplomacy that is strong, not appeasing. Let us get to an end with this Korean mess. Let us give free enterprise and individual ingenuity an opportunity opportuni-ty again. Let us get government out of business and put business into government. Let us see an end to this infla- |
