Show Slake Gating at Maple Canyon Several hundred lathers an sons participated in the annual Stake outing, held Saturday at Maple Canyon and Moroni. The groups assembled at 3 p. m. at the Forks of the Canyon when the plan provided for hiking and general sight seeing of Maple and Ecx Canyons. Owing to a heavy downpour of rain, only a small number who arrived early on the scene were privileged priv-ileged to explore and they were awarded with a good soaking. After several hours sitting in the cars and watching the rain fall, the caravan of fifty cars repaired to the East ward chapel in Moroni, where the box lunches were enjoyed, en-joyed, followed by a fine program in which Mayor John F. Bowman of Salt Lake City was the principal princi-pal speaker His subject was "The true spirit of Fathers and Sons." Other speakers were Scout executive ex-ecutive William G. Barton and Ephraim Jensen of the Snow College Col-lege at Ephraim and S. M. Neilson of Mt. Pleasant. The musical program included community singing directed by Lawrence Law-rence Sardoni Jr., string selection, Vern Bills and Roy Young. Spring City; band selections, Fairview school band. A. E. Darley of the North Sanpete San-pete Stake Y. M. M. I. A. was in charge. |
