Show Sal:na Boy Is Killed In Automobile Crash During the hurry and scurry o the flood hours at Salina Sunday afternoon, when hundreds of cars were fleeing back and forth at various vari-ous points, Que V. Reynolds, the 12-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, had his life crushed from his body. Que, after the crash, was hurried to the Salina hospital, but it was found that his right leg had been almost crushed from the body and the boy had suffered a basal skull fracture. The accident acci-dent happened at 4 o'clock and at 6 o'clock the boy was dead. The tragedy was one of the worst of Its kind to happen in Salina for more than twenty years, old residents reported. re-ported. Que, with several companions, had joined Dan Anderson, the 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. D M. Anderson, on a trip to the south Redmond bridge, where the flood waters were gushing furiously. When the party was returning and was entering Salina, a mix-up of automobiles congested the traffic, and in passing the number of cars, Dan Anderson, driver of the truck on which the boys were riding, lost control of the machine and crashed heavily into an electric light pole. The Reynolds boy was riding on the running board and when the crash came he was pinioned between be-tween the pole and the automobile, with the results as mentioned a-bove. a-bove. Anderson, the drover, and the rest of the boys, none of whom were more than 16 years of age, escaped es-caped with a few bruises and scratches. Impressive and largely attended funeral services were held from the South ward chapel Thursday at 2 p. m. for Que Reynolds. Music was by the choir; duet, H. G. Ericksen and Mrs. R. D. Jones; vocal solo, Mrs. Clayton Sorenson, with violin and piano accompaniment, accompani-ment, Lawrence Sardoni Jr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Sardoni. H. G. Ericksen and Joseph Johansen Johan-sen Jr. were the speakers. Prayers were by President S. M. Nielsen and A. F. Reynolds. Mads Anderson dedicated the grave. Floral offerings were unusual in beauty and profusion. |
