Show Mrs. M. R. Straw President Of State Delphians Mrs. M. R. Straw of this city, president of the Mt. Maple chapter chap-ter of Delphians, was elected president pres-ident of the Utah State Assembly of Delphians at an annual meeting Saturday in the Z. C. M. I. auditorium, audi-torium, at which representatives of organizations in Sprigvllnle, Ogden and Salt Lake City, were present. Another local chapter member, Mrs. Earl Condie, was elected corresponding cor-responding secretary. Other officers offi-cers were from the various chapters chap-ters represented at the meeting. Mrs. J. S. Pruin, past president of the assembly, conducted the meeting and Mrs. P. L. Martin of the Springville chapter, retiring vice-president, was in charge of the business meeting and election. The principal guest speaker at the luncheon which followed the business session and was held in the Lion House, was Mrs. Adri-enne Adri-enne Buck, assistant instructor of modern languages at the University Universi-ty of Utah. An evacuee from France, Mrs. Buck related her experiences ex-periences in fleeing only a few hours before German occupation. Attending the meeting and luncheon lun-cheon from Springville were Mrs. M. R. Straw, Mrs. F. L. Graham, Mrs. Catherine D. Wills, Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, Mrs. Mark Johnson, Mrs. F. V. Martin. In behalf of the local chapter, representatives attending the assembly as-sembly honored their president at the time of her election to the state office with presentation of a lovely corsage. |
