Show Exhibit In City This Week Features Noted Doll Queens i Queen Lillabet, friend of dolls, fairies and children everywhere is visiting in SpringviUe; Queen Lillabet, Lil-labet, who reigns at the Sprig of Green Memorial Museum at Port Arthur, Texas; Queen Lillabet, to whom the children of SpringviUe have paid court In their special Sprig of Green ceremony honoring the Keal Alice of Alice In Wonder-hind, Wonder-hind, and in connection with her friendly relations with Queen Ros-abelle. Ros-abelle. Queen Lillabet with her royal party came In part to pay court to Queen Roseabelle who has just recently celebrated her 13th birthday, birth-day, which fell on the fairy date of the 93rd of March, and to conduct con-duct a goodwill tour, bringing greetings from many important people in Texas to the people of Utah, particularly the children. Special greetings came from R. L. Rutan, mayor of Port Arthuif, Texas, Dr. Watt Barclay, mayor of Woodville, Texas, G. M. Sims, superintendent of the schools, T. Q. Syrgley, principal of the Thomas Thom-as Jefferson High school, Grace Noll Crowell, poet laureate of Texas, and others. Special greetings greet-ings came from the children in the L. D. S. primary of Port Arthur, Ar-thur, Texas. The royal party from Texas, Including Queen Alice, the sleepy Dormouse, Cattypizzle, Jyoanna Troutman, (the Texas Betsy Ross), Mizz Rabbit (secretary to the queen) and Pixie, her adopted daughter who is cunningly tied to Mizz Rabbit's apron-string, and the royal coach, are now on display dis-play at the D. T. R. Store where they will remain until Thursday evening. During Friday the two queens will be feted at a special children's party after which they will leave for Ogden to visit the children of the Pingree school'un-der school'un-der whose guidance Rosabelle grew "f amouser and famouser." Pixie, the darling little naneen who almost couldn't come on account ac-count of her shoes having "wored-outness," "wored-outness," will go to Ogden, also Mizz Rabbit. Joanna Troutman, a little French celluloid doll, who stands to the memory of the Texas Betsy Ross, who designed the Lone Star flag for Texas, will remain in SpringviUe Spring-viUe where the children may visit her in the Children's Room of the SpringviUe public library where they may see the replica of the original Lone Star flag, made by the real Joanna Troutman who designed it for the Georgia Battalion Bat-talion who helped Texas win her freedom from Mexico. Also a book, A Lady And A Lone Star Flag, autographed to the children of Utah by the author, Henry David Pope. Joanna Troutman will assist Queen Lillabet in her sale of war stamps. Every child who purchases one most especially especial-ly in honor of this occasion, may sign her name in the royal autograph auto-graph book which will be in the library. Lillabet hopes to sell trillions tril-lions of war stamps. It is her way of helping Uncle Sam, so that the green will come back to Fairyland. Fairy-land. The poem, Miss Hempety Comes to Tea, by Grace Noll Crowell, especially autographed, will also be on display. |
