Show CAMP SPRINGVILLE D. U. P. ELECTED officers at a meeting last Thursday Thurs-day afternoon, the last regular meeting this season, held at the home of Mrs. Mary J. Finley. The program, an interesting and entertaining one, featured the history his-tory of Mrs. Eliza - Thorn, . given by her daughter, Mrs. Maude Erd-man Erd-man of Midvale. Mrs. Thorn was one of the first members of the camp. Descendants of Mrs. Thorn also gave the program which included in-cluded vocal solos, by a daughter, Mrs. Eliza Bringhurst of Salt Lake City, composed by Mrs. Thorn; poems by a daughter, Mrs. Samantha Finch of Salt Lake City. A grandson, Grant Thorn, gave two vocal solos, accompanied by Robert Thorn, a great grandson, grand-son, who also gave two piano selections. se-lections. Mrs. Paul Thorn gave a lovely poem, also composed by Mrs. Eliza Thorn in her later years. Mrs. Mary J. Finley gave a clever clev-er alphabet jingle which she composed com-posed about the various members of the camp. A lesson "Stories of Pioneers," was given in fine manner man-ner by Fannie Rowland. Mrs. Roy Passey, a county officer, offi-cer, was present and gave a short talk. Also another lovely feature of the afternoon was the presentation presen-tation by Mrs. Lela Sumsion of a beautiful potted plant to every member present, and a bouquet of flowers to the hostess. At the close of the meeting, daughters of Mrs. Finley surprised the group with tasty refreshments. refresh-ments. Approximately forty club members and guests attended the meeting. |
