Show Till OCCUPANTS INJURED JHCOmSIIB ! Roadster, Claimed to Have Been Speeding, Wrecks Passenger Car. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, March 2. II. p. Herri ck, 2666 Washington avenue, secretary of Elks lodge, and Charles Johnson, chauffeur for the A, B. C. Taxi & Transfer company, were seriously hurt, and William T. Greenwell, 5t9 Twenty-third street, was slightly injured, when the automobile they were riding in was struck broadside b'y a roadster driven by Mark Parker, at the corner of Jefferson avenue and Twenty-fifth Twenty-fifth street at 2:30 o'clock this rnorT. It is reported the roadster was running at excessive speed, and the noise oi m" collision was heard three blocks away. The heavy taxi was hurled across the street and was rendered an almost complete com-plete wreck. Injuries of Herrick consist' of three broken ribs and a number of minor injuries. in-juries. Johnson, was badly cut about the face and arms and was injured Internally. Greenwell, who was riding in the rear seat, escaped with a fow slight bruises. Parker, it was stated, was uninjured. The wounded men were given first aid treatment treat-ment at the police station under the direction di-rection of Captain O. H. Mohlman, and then were removed to their homes. According to the story told at the station, sta-tion, Johnson had received a call to the PJlks' club at 2:15 o'clock this morning. He got eight passengers to take to their homes. Five w-ere discharged, leaving Greenwell and Herrick. The car was go- 1 ing north on Jefferson avenue and when crossing the intersection of Twenty-fifth street, Johnson saw the roadster coming. He attempted to get out of the way, but could not do so, and the roadster hit the touring car broadside with force sufficient suffi-cient to hurl it across the street and into a telegraph pole. The Parker car, It is stated, was deflected from its course and struct a telephone pole. 1 Immediately following the accident Captain Cap-tain Mohlman of the police department was notified and hurried to the sqene. He helped the injured men to the emergency hospital for first aid treatment and questioned ques-tioned both drivers about their speed-Parker, speed-Parker, it is stated, admitted he was going about thirty-five miles an hour, while the men in the wrecked car said his speed was closer to fifty miles an hour. |
