Show Hart and Arbucfde Combination Makes Hit . THE combination of "Fatty" Arbuckle In his latest two-reel comedy, and that stalwart depicter of western "typos, William &'. Hart, in his new production was responsible for the standing room only sign's being hung out at the Paramount-Empress Paramount-Empress before 3 o'clock yesterday, that enviable condition being maintained until after the last show had started. "Love" and "Breed of Men" proved to be one of the best double attractions offered at the Paramount-Em press. Whether "Bill" Hart plays a western bad man or a heroic sheriff makes comparatively com-paratively little difference apparently in the appeal of his pictures, for the essential essen-tial elements are about the same. Here, as in "Branding Broadway," his former picture, he is permitted to reveal a quantity quan-tity of manly virtues with but few defects, and he gets the character across smoothly without sacrificing any of the western mannerisms which folks have come to associate as-sociate with his performances. Aside from the story, which starts in Arizona, there are a number of very Interesting scenes in the Chicago stockyards which are the real thing, Mr. Hart having made a special trip to the Windy City wilh his enmpanv for the purpose of potting the right local color. The ruling idea of "Breed of Men" is that the American type Is one of strong! protective instincts and sympathy for the weak; a fine theme and Hdmirably ex- i rmplified by Hart in his own personality. 1 The story, too, is above the average, the entire production being a notahle one. U goes without saying that "Fatty" Arhuokle's contribution to the gaiety of nations under the caption of "Love" Is a rip-roaring farce stuffed full of peppery ! acrobatics and absurd situations that are responsible, for pales of laughter on the part of the audiences. The same show roes again today and tomorrow to-morrow accompanied by pome exceptionally exception-ally good music on the part of Mr. Kimball Kim-ball and his assistants.
