This award is given by the Southern Utah Officials Association. Each School in the Region is judged by the referees as to the sportsmanship sport-smanship of the team, coaches, cheering sections and fans at each game during the season. It is a real honor to receive this trophy and all the people involved with high school basketball should be commended com-mended Shown here with the trophy are, left to right: Coach Shirts, and team captains, Phil Hermansen, David Lamoreaux and studentbody president, Bruce Topham. Rams win and lose in Region tourney PAKOWAN - At the Region Tournament last weekend, the Parowan Rams won one beating Enterprise 65-53 and lost one, to Bryce Valley 85-69. On Thursday, Parowan raced to a quick 10-0 lead and couldn't be stopped. Jon Robinson had 8 of the first 10 points. At half-time the Rams led 31-21 and during the second half increased their lead to the final score of 65-53. Jon Robinson finished with 16 points. Jeff Johnson, was a real factor in the game as he scored 10 points and pulled down 21 rebounds. Dave Lamoreaux, Parowan's fine senior guard scored 12. Friday evening the Rams lost their chance at going to the State Tournament, losing to Bryce Valley. The Rams fought a hard battle but could not contain the taller Mustangs. Parowan only trailed by 5 points at half-time. 37-32. During the second half the Rams challenged Bryce Valley three different times but each time the Mustangs got hot and increased their lead John Robiason again played a fine game as he scored 19 points. Tom Robiason scored 17 points and blocked six shots as he played one of his finest games of the year. Dave lamoreaux and Jeff Johnson added 14 and 11 points. I The young Rams started to really play good ball towards the end of the season and w ith many players back next year should have a winning team. |
