Junior High students win honors have been entered in other competition and may become eligible for statewide judging. Other items of business at the meeting were an introduction of student representatives who are serving on the PTSA board and a report by PTSA President Bonnie J. Smith concerning board actions since the last general meeting. Nancie Dennett gave a treasurers report and Principal Dee Smith spoke on the progress being made toward the building of a new Jr. High facility. A slate of candidates were presented for the 1975-76 school year, Jr. High members will be sent ballots and are asked to make a selection and return them; furhter instructions will accompany ballots. Candidates for President-elect are Tom Cardon and Sherrie Jackson, Marily Heap and Donna Jean Clark are making bids for Secretary-treasure. Those in attendance also enjoyed en-joyed musical entertainment provided by Mark Slack and Lou Fetherol and heard an informative in-formative lecture on Alcohol by guest speaker Dr. Stephen K. Harmon. Certificates were presented to the winners of the Cultural Arts project at the Jr. High PTSA meeting held last Thursday. The project called Reflections 1974-75 had as its theme "Our Heritage' Our Hope", students were encouraged en-couraged to enter and express their creativity in visual arts, music and literature. The judging was based on evidence of creative ability and expression of the theme. Six hundred and one entries from the Jr. High showed clearly the talents and efforts of the students as well as the efforts and encouragement en-couragement of Corrine Williams, project chairman; and the cooperation of the Jr. High faculty. First place honor in the visual arts was presented to Janette Clark with honorable mentions going to Kent Gordon, Clair Cooley and Clarica Corbridge. Michael Michie took first place in the Music category, his being the only certificate presented in this division. Due to the large number of entries in the Literature area more certificates were presented in this division. Karma Kenney was given first place while honorable mentions went to Brenda Stones, Jan Stratton, Virginia Haynie, Diane Rember, Sherrie Lee Hunt and Stephen Radmall. The winning entries |
