Show j Parowan Power Board seek rate increase j PAROWAN - Parowan City's power board met with the council Wed. evening and took up the fiajor portion of the meeting with a discussion on the electric department budget for the Iioming fiscal year. The board made two recommendations recom-mendations to the council. They ecommended that the electrical ates be increased by 10 percent ind that an electrical connection ee be charged on new con-lections. con-lections. The proposed charge would be $200. These recommendations would have to be approved through an ordinance which would have to be drafted and posted and subject sub-ject to protest. The mill levy was set for at 13.50 mills it has been 25.50 and was lowered to compensate for the higher evaluations, and stay within the law which states taxes cannot be raised more than 6 percent over last year. Police chief Dan Harris met with the council and discussed the complaints of townspeople about motorcyclists creating a noise problem south of town on the hills there. The city has contacted Nevada Rock and Sand Company to request permission per-mission for cyclists to use the pit north of the airport for a recreation area to eliminate the noise problem. The new city well has been causing some problems by back-flushing back-flushing when the power goes off, and some caving. This has caused the water to be muddy some of the time. A discussion is now being held on the possibility of drilling a new well as a back up well is needed. |
