Show IZoning appeal denied jji An appeal for a variance in zoning by Mr. and Mrs. Stan jjack, has been denied by the Cedar City Board of Adjustment, it was announced by L. Robert Gardner, chairman. ' I The request was for a variance to permit a Beauty Salon operation in a home in a R-l . Zone. In rejecting the variance ; request the Board of Adjustment took the following position in i 'reaching their decision; H i 1. That the Zoning Ordinance -has set forth the requirements .'for construction and usage in JjZong R-l; and many , families have located, - with heavy in-i' in-i' vestment, in that area because of the amenities and restrictions. I I 2. It was proposed that the ! Beauty Salon occupy the "Garage" area of the proposed house. This is a rather large space (albeit, less than 25 percent per-cent of the house) which could easily accomodate three chairs. While this is definately not the current intent, a successful operation would force expansion. 3. The appeal indicates the possibility of more than one "chair" and part time help. Such an arrangement would exceed the bounds , of a "Home Occupation." Oc-cupation." The decision of the Board has ; been forwarded ,1q the City Council and to the applicant for a variance. |
