D Giles executive secretary of the association said The monument will commemorate the ascent of the peak by Brigham Young and seven companions on July 26 1847 Every stake and mission In the United States will be asked to send senda a stone or rock for the monument and histories of the stones will be preserved preserved pre pro served in a document to be kept within with with- in the monument The marker will be 12 feet high and 10 feet wide at the base
