Show American Fork LiGns Take Honors At Charter Night Function The American Fork Lions club walked away with a greater part of the honors at the Farmington charter night function given at the Hotel Utah Wednesday evening. The local club had sixty-four lions and partners present and were outstanding with their peppy songs and stunts. Ben Ruffen, president of the inter-nataional inter-nataional organization of Lions, was the special guest of honor along with the new Farmington club members. He gave an inspirational talk on Lionisni paying special tribute to the newly organized clubs in this section. During the evening "Tabby and Bun" accompanied by Mrs. Owen Humphries, entertained with snappy duet numbers and the entire American Ameri-can Fork group got over some special songs adding life and pep to the event. A large silk flag was awarded to the local club for having the largest attendance at-tendance and Mr. Earl Holmstead was selected as the best tail twister in the entire district and ably functioned in this capacity at this state event. As a special feature stunt three persons dressed in chicken costumes came onto the orchestra stand and then passed thru the hall during the banquet and was followed by an announcement an-nouncement of Utah Poultry Day celebration at American Fork on June 26th. LIOS AeXMJAL INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AND LADIES NIGHT NEXT THURSDAY EVENING, APRIL 25 Next Thursday evening, April 25, the Lions Club are holding their annual ann-ual installation of new officers and Ladies night in the New Gymnasium. The committee in charge of the affair consists of Clarence Grant, chairman, Earl "Hap" Holmstead, William Chip-man Chip-man and J. L. Firmage. This committee com-mittee alone speaks well for the type of entertainment in . store for the Lions and their ladies. In addition to a delicious dinner a musical program and dancing will be enjoyed. It is announced that there will be no speaker of the evening, even-ing, but talks will be given by the outgoing and incoming officers. Presentation Pre-sentation of badges will also be made, and the club will be officially presented present-ed with a beautiful silk flag, which theyj won for having the largest attendance at-tendance at the Farmington Charter night banquet and entertainment given giv-en at the Hotel Utah, Salt Lake City, Wednesday evening, April 17. The new president, Dr. G. S. Richards, will also read a list of the new committees com-mittees selected for the various phases of work carried on by the organization. Another feature of the evening will be the initiation of the new members into the club. This event is in charge of Dr. Allan G. Brockbank and Mayor Roy Greenwood. During the final episode, the dance, which is being conducted in traffic style, Miss Wilma Boyle of the high school Physical Education department depart-ment will conduct several novelty dances for the group entertainment. The traffic dance will without a doubt create the most fun of the evening. This is something new and promises to be a real speedy affair. The committee in charge is composed, of Lenard Pelt and David Davis. Everyone knows the extent of these Lions' imaginations, so be prepared! for a real surprise. j Other attractions are to be featur- ed during the evening, but they will be kept a secret until the big night. Everything is all set for an extra special time, and the big roar is fori every Lion and his lady to be present. ! |
