Show Large Attendance At . All three sessions of the 112th Quarterly Conference for Alpine Stake, Saturday evening at 7:30 p. m., Sunday morning at 10 a. m., and Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m., were well attended. The Saturday evening session, which was for the Priesthood quorums of the stake only, had a total' of 224 present. There were 732 Sunday Sun-day morning, and 536 that afternoon. President Clifford E. Young presided presid-ed at all sessions and took charge. Saturday evening, Apostle George F. Richards of the General Authorities Authori-ties was present, and spoke. He said he noticed from the report a number of increases for the first three months of 1929 over the same period of 192S. He referred to the importance of the Priesthood, and touched upon the life of the Savior, and also some of his a short term missionary to California, all spoke of their experiences and testified to the truth and glory of the gospel. Le Grande Richards testified to the Power of the Holy Priesthood, and conveyed many other interesting gospel truths. Apostle Richards touched upon the hymn "The Unknown Grave," and referred to III Xephi, 27th chapter, on the teachings of the Savior. The stake choir was in attendance and furnished the following numbers: "O Ye Mountains High," "Come, Listen To A Prophet's Voice," "Guide Us 0 Thou Great Jehovah," and "Hark, Listen To The Trumpeters." Interspersing the speakers, Ilene Strong Peterson sang a vocal solo "I'll Go 'Where You Want Me To Go, Dear Lord." Prayers were given by William Garber of Salt Lake City and President Presi-dent S. L. Chipman. disciples after the Savior's death. He spoke of our inter-dependence one upon another, and the love we should have for one another. "We have no right ot say 'no' when asked to labor in the Church." He explained the organization or-ganization of a Stake of Zion. "The acceptance of any responsibility in the church should mean loyalty to that responsibility. The big thing while here is to prepare for the hereafter." here-after." He cautioned the people against going to the Temple without their recommends properly signed by the Bishopric and President of the stake. President Young commended the High Priests for their excellent percentage per-centage of attendance, and urged the people to get their recommends to the Temple a few days before wishing to go. President S. L. Chipman spoke on the subject of the sacredness of marriage mar-riage in the Holy Temple of God. Musical numbers for" this session was furnished by a male quartet from the lesser Priesthood. Prayers were given by President James H. Clarke and E. J. Clayson. At the second session Sunday morning, morn-ing, President Heber J. Grant, Apostle Apos-tle George F. Richard and LeGrande Richards were in attendance. Following welcome remarks by President Young, Miss Marian Coates of the American Fork Fourth ward and Erwin Devey of the A. F. Third ward gave two minute talks on tho subject of "Reverence." James M. Grant, stake Sunday School superintendent, explained briefly the work being done in the Sunday Schools of Alpine Stake. I Everett Devey, recently returned from the California mission, and James Harrington of the Hawaiian mission, spoke briefly of their many experiences. They both spoke of the great need of the Gospel of Christ among the worldly people. Apostle Richards read from, the Doctrine and Covenants on the responsibility re-sponsibility of parents to their children, child-ren, and admonished parents to be diligent and conscientious in teaching and training their children in the principles of righteousness. He emphasized em-phasized the fact that example is a very important part in teaching. President Grant said there is perhaps per-haps no lesson more important for children to learn in early life than that of porsistauce.
