Show Board Named To Select Site For Feeble Minded Institution Appointments of a commission to take charge of locating and selecting select-ing the site for the Utah state training train-ing school for the feeble minded which American Fork is strongly after, was announced Wednesday by Gov. Geo. H. Dern. Governor Dern is ex-officio chairman chair-man of the commission and other members are D. A. Skeen, Salt Lake attorney; Mrs. Amy Brown Lyman, counselor in the general presidency of the Relief Society; Mayor John E. Booth, of Spanish Fork, former commander com-mander of the American Legion, department de-partment of Utah; Roy D. Thatcher of Ogden. The commission is created by the provisions of the act passed by the eighteenth legislature. Members are to serve without compensation other than payment of their expenses. With this commission rests the sole authority of choosing the site for the new state institution, though the commission com-mission will have nothing to do with either the construction of a building or the management of the school when established. Within 60 days from date of their appointment this commission is to begin be-gin its work of investigating different sites and the decision of a majority of the board shall be final. The selection selec-tion when made is to be certified to the secretary of state and with this done the board passes out of existence. |
