Show Sego Lily BAR chapter elects new officers and certificate. Gina is a 1986 Viewmont High School graduate. Following a luncheon served by the hostess, Mary B. Beesley read the nomination committee's list of prospective officers for the next three-year term of office. The following fol-lowing were unanimously elected: Chapter Regent, Marion Harrison; 1st vice regent, Carol Moon; chaplain, cha-plain, Beth Hibler; recording secretary, sec-retary, Connie Hazen; corresponding corres-ponding secretary, Mary Softe-land; Softe-land; treasurer, Mary Beesley; registrar, reg-istrar, Valerie England; historian, Darlene Law The officers were duly installed by Past State Regent Elvira White. Past Regent Davis will be the state treasurer for the next three years. The program was presented by Honorary State Regent White who reported on her April visit to the NSDAR Continental Congress in Washington, D.C. She told of the activities she attended and reported re-ported on the action taken. The meeting was adjourned until June 14 when the Chapter has been invited to join the Salt Lake Valley Chapter in a Flag Day picnic and program at Fort Douglas. The May 12 meeting of the Sego Lily Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the home of Marion S. Harrison, Bountiful. The meeting was conducted by Regent Anita H. Davis. The opening open-ing prayer was given by Director Harrison. The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States was led by Connie B. Hazen, and the Americans' Amer-icans' Creed was led by Carol B. Moon. Mary B. Beesley read a message from President General Sarah M. King in which she expressed her gratitude on behalf of her administration adminis-tration for being able to serve the society for the past three years. She also reported that the first phase of the Climate-Control project pro-ject of the Washington DAR buildings build-ings has begun because of the generous gen-erous contributions of the members. mem-bers. The National Defense Message was given by Secretary Mary J. Softeland. She reviewed Phyllis Schlafy's "English, Our Official Language" which is a statement against Bilingual Education. Following Fol-lowing the message, Secretary Softeland read the minutes for the April 21 meeting. Gina Marsiglia, daughter of member Joyce P. Marsiglia was honored as the chapter's high school graduate of the year. She was awarded a chapter scholarship |
