Show State baseball starts Wed. team that has finished third in state the last two seasons, seems to have the tools to at least equal that finish again. Viewmont relies, pitching wise, on junior Jason Burningham, although Travis Holbrook, Cory Stokes, Kelly Martines and Jim Bender have all looked sharp at times. Ralph Knudsen platoons his players, and probably will continue to do so should Viewmont make the playoffs. For Woods Cross, Tehon, along with fellow pitchers Steve Worth-en, Worth-en, Chet Stems and Dave Larsen, have also had good moments, but Woods Cross depends on its offense as well. Catcher Brett Lawrence broke his thumb last week and will be lost to Steve Lind-sey's Lind-sey's troops for the Bountiful game, but he could see action later in the playoffs should the Cats qualify. Last Friday, the Wildcats surprised sur-prised Viewmont 9-8, paced by Mike Tehon, who pitched five strong innings and drove in three runs, including the game winner in the seventh. That moved the Wildcats Wild-cats to 4-5 in league play, pending the outcome of the Woods Cross-Bountiful Cross-Bountiful game slated for Monday afternoon. -Meanwhile, Viewmont is scheduled sche-duled to play Davis Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, with both of those teams tied for second at 5-4. Davis hammered Highland 18-3 Friday, knocking the Rams out of the playoff picture. League champion Bountiful moved to 9-0 with a 9-7, eight-inning eight-inning win at East, as Gary Bowman Bow-man struck out 13 Leopards before giving way in the seventh to reliever reliev-er Kenny Muir. Muir got the win when Jason Cook rove in the game-winner in the eighth with a sacrifice fly. All three local teams have something some-thing on the line this week. Bountiful Bounti-ful can finish unbeaten in league if it beats Woods Cross, while the Cats had to win yesterday to have any chance of going to state. The Braves have perhaps the best starting duo in 4-A in senior Bowman and junior Chad Rgiby. East is the only opponent to score more than three runs against the Braves this year in league play.
