It has been estimated that there is sufficient space in the five lots to take care of all the cars which come to Sugar House each day. The southernmost parking lot is the one owned by the South East Fur niture Co., but which is open to the public. Horace A. Sorensen, manager of the company, com-pany, estimates that 250 cars could park in that lot. According to Mr. Sorensen, abut 50 cars now park there each day. The lot closest to the plaza is the market square parking area which is mainly designed de-signed to service quick shoppers of the businesses which surround the square. Business people have been requested not to use this area. The third lot, found in back of the buildings surrounding the market square is spacious and accessible. The northernmost lots are found on each side ,fo 11th East, about one block from the plaza. They have been surfaced and lighted light-ed bv the city so that drivers may utilize them until after midnight. Several other small lots for private businesses add to the available parking area. Lt. Larson and his associates on the force made it clear that they had no desire to be unpleasant or unfair in giving tickets, but they do feel that the business people should set the eample to shoppers by using the excellent off-street parking facilities. fa-cilities. The Bulletin commends the Sugar House police officers in their "cordial" efforts ef-forts to show local business people that it's for their own good to park their cars in the free parking areas. |
