Show $60,000 Fund Drive Begins Wasatch Presbyterian Church Announces Building Program Plans to build a new church in the southeast have gone beyond be-yond the "planning" stage. By the end of February a fund-seeking campaign will be launched by the Wasatch Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church. A church site has been purchased, architects archi-tects drawings have been completed, com-pleted, various promotion com' mittees have been selected, a six-page brochure has been prepared pre-pared and all is in readiness, according to Rev. Donald G. Christiansen, pastor. . The Wasatch Presbyterian church is one of Salt Lake's newest churches, organized in June, 1946, and has been laying, plans for a new building program pro-gram since its foundation, Rev. Christiansen said. Later in that year a site for the new church, "God's Acre," a plot of land on 17th East near 17th South, was selected and purchased for $4800. Since that time, the building and finance committees commit-tees have been bending their efforts ef-forts toward getting the new church building program underway under-way by this spring. ?GO,000 Program The new church will be o modified New England country style architecture, 40 by 85 feet, (see cut) on a lot 140 by 330 feet. The finance committee has estimated esti-mated the cost of the building and land at $60,000, Rev. Christiansen Chris-tiansen stated. The nave of the new building will seat approximately 300 persons. In addition to the nave on the first floor, there will be a narthex where 50 or 60 chairs can be placed. A choir loft has also been provided, pro-vided, designed to seat 30. Floor plans of the first floor indicate a spacious entranceway, with Otwo coat rooms located nearby. Four small rooms, two on either side of the chancel, will be used as pastor's study, Sunday School class rooms and choir robing room. . , . Rev Christiansen said that the beautiful picture windows from old Westminster Church will be installed in the new edifice edi-fice The chancel furniture from old Third Church, the pews and the Hammond organ from old Westminster Church will also be installed in the new edifice. Basement Tlans Underneath the nave, on the , basement floor, will be found the social hall. Because of the topography of the site, the west end of the basement will be on the ground floor. This room, 40 Ofeet'lw 58 feet will seat approximately approx-imately 200 around banquet tables." Folding partitions will enable this room to be divided into manv small class rooms. An ample'kitcben has also been designed for the basement. The heating and lavatory facilities will be there, also. Heading the finance committee commit-tee which will begin active fund-solcitations the latter part of February is Mr. II. II . Ham-mill. Ham-mill. Committee members include: in-clude: Dr. Rav T. Woolsev. Mr. Glen Hester and Mr. Earl Groth. Rev. Christiansen, pastor, will work closely with these men in the campaign. Rev.
