Show around the C O Ilj ! v j ! i I sugar house E I j With the Editor J j We'd like to extend the heartiest hearti-est good wishes to Con Silard in his undertaking . . . what-,ever what-,ever it is. Con has been a good friend to The Bulletin ever since he moved in next door and we've appreciated having him as such a helpful and cheerful neighbor. I On those mornings after the pa- 1 per was put to bed. more often , than not Con would be the only ! one around the premises to watch after things and this he did well and gladly. He's given us much sound advice in his months with us, all of which has j not gone unappreciated. Good luck, Major. We'll miss you! One of the new features in The Bulletin which we hope T keeps on growing into a service-)able, service-)able, worthwhile column is "Your Community " In this column col-umn we want to bring to you, the citizen, weekly reports from your citizen-serving, tax-supported institutions in the southeast. south-east. In addition, we want to give the officials who run these institutions free voice to speak to the people whom they serve. If there are problems that we can help these people to solve, that is just what we want to do. If there ape commendations or complaints that you think should be directed to these institutions, we'd like to help. We have talked over the article and its possibilities with Lieutenant Larson of the police department, Captain Goalen and Lieutenant Hansen of the fire department, and Mr. Walker of the local post office. A report from these institutions, in-stitutions, coupled with the fine weekly column from Miss Aure-lia Aure-lia Bennion of the Branch Library, Li-brary, should keep us all fully informed on the problems and happenings of our local pubile institutions. Things are really happening out here in southeast Salt Lake! Last week we reported plans for a $750,000 shopping center in the vicinity of 23rd East and 21st South. This week we bring you the story of a drive-in theater to be built near 3500 E. 33rd South. Undoubtedly there are other big things in the offing. If so, The Bulletin wants to know about them. We invite all readers to phone in news, night or day. We're interested in anything any-thing about the southeast or southeasterners. Our phone is 6-2333 in case you've forgotten. |
