Show DOING THE TOWN By Elaine Cannon Seems as if you can't live near Sugar House and not be full of a real Christmas spirit . . . Gay lights and window decorations . . . poinsettia plants in the florists' flor-ists' windows . . . holly and mistletoe and bright red candles can-dles . . . even the salespeople are special out here greeting you with a smile and a helpful manner. Mr. and Mrs. G- Lamont Richards Rich-ards entertained a group of their friends at their home Saturday night. Plans were to go bobsleigh bob-sleigh riding but if you can remember re-member those two days last week when a spring thaw hit town you'll understand why the crowd settled for play-room games instead. But there was . homemade chili, home-made cinnamon rolls and plenty of cheese and crackers just the same. Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar G. Booth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert IS. Ward and the Lester F. Hew lelts Jr. were in on the fixings. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Parker Par-ker have had their pir!! She was born Monday in the IjDS Hospital. Members of the Sugar House Stake Relief Society board met at the home of Mrs. Lee Pur-rington, Pur-rington, 845 Bryan Ave., Wednesday night for their annual an-nual Christmas party. And a festive affair it was. Cutest part of the party was the manner in which each guest received a gift. Each person hid the gift they had brought to the party some place in the house and then wrote a poem giving clues as to its whereabouts. Guests drew . a poem from a hat and then proceeded to find their gift. Some of those on hand for the fun included former ;'board" members Thehna Dansie. Pearl Crockett and Peggy Hewlett. Among others there from the active board were Mrs. Gilbert Wallace, Mrs. Alta Whiting, Mrs. Stella Nelson, Mrs. Clifton Ja-cobsen Ja-cobsen and Mrs. Elbert Curtis. 1'arkers live at ouiiui 14th East St. Mrs. Parker is the former Judith Wirfhlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ii. AVirthlin of Slur-ray. Slur-ray. Popular Beth Ann Sorensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Ho-race A. Sorensen, 3000 Connor Street, is busy trousseau buying and party going these days. She is to be married Dec. 22 to .Charles McDonald at the home of her parents. Tops on the list of entertainments held in honor of the betrothed maid was the affair held by the bride's aunts. It was in the form of a tea with Mrs. S. 'Morgan Sorensen and Mrs. J. Gordon Sorensen sharing shar-ing hostess honors. |
