Show Sprague Branch Library Notes Circulation Jump, Increase in Personnel and Facilities Noting an average monthly -increase in library book circulation circu-lation of approximately 800 books over the same months last year, Miss Aurelia Bennion, Sprague Branch Library head librarian, this week said that increased population and expanded ex-panded facilities in the children's chil-dren's department were the chief causes. Jicilities have increased in a' Qpartments at the library, 11.1 Bennion stated. Special emphasis has been placed in the natural sciences and the "Youthful "Youth-ful Arts" (home building and planning, etc.). There are more new books in all fields now than ever before, however. New Staff Members Recently two new staff members mem-bers have been added to the library li-brary staff: Mrs. Reid H. Nation Na-tion took over duties as head of the children's department on Oct. 27 and Miss Jeanne Lathrop became a library assistant on Dec 1. Mrs. Nation gained her experience at Indiana State Library Li-brary and at the Indianapolis Public Library. Later she was librarian in the Allyson Division of the General Motors Library. For a year and a half she lived w'jiher husband in Germany, r g ling to the states last spring. Miss Lathrop is a student stu-dent at Westminster College and is working as an assistant in the children's department al Sprague Library. Among the current literature which should be of interest to everyone are two recently published pub-lished pamphlets on the Colorado Colo-rado River project. One report, put out by the bureau of reclamation recla-mation is "The Colorado River a Natural Menace Becomes a National Resource." The second pamphlet is entitled, "Upper Colorado Col-orado River Basin Compact," which was ratified by the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Mex-ico, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming in Santa Fe on Oct. 11, 1948. Sprague Library staff members mem-bers in addition to the two new library assistants and Miss Bennion Ben-nion are: Mrs. C. K. Naffsiger, assistant librarian, and Miss Stella Cozakos, library assist ants. |
