Barnes, 1400 Yale Ave. Second problem to be discusssed, according to Norman G. Berndt, president, is how to allow every interested citizen to participate in the association, which up to now has only invited certain clubs to join. Started in Spring Although some type of association in the southeast area has been under discussion for several years, the present plan was evolved this spring. Three representatives were named from each of eight clubs to attend initial meetings. Under the articles of incorporation in-corporation of the association which have not yet been registered. these representatives were named as directors. Four, Clubs Affiliated Four clubs by a vote of their membership approved their affiliation with the association. asso-ciation. They are: Holladay Lions, Sugar Houee Chamber of Commerce, Sons of Utah Pioneers, Pio-neers, and Sugar House Business Busi-ness and Professional Women. Local Rotary Club officers have not considered it further be-causes be-causes they say it Is contrary to their constitution. Three Lions Clubs Sugar -House, East Mill Creek and Highland Center have not yet acted upon it. The association articles prescribed pre-scribed that the first annual meeting to l.e held in January, 1949. New officers and directors direc-tors are to be electee then. Present Pres-ent officers and directors hope to have all organizational problems prob-lems solved by that time, so that new officers may embark on a program of community betterment, Mr. Berndt said. Individual Memberships To allow all interested individuals indi-viduals to join the association, despite affiliation or non-affiliation, it has been suggested that a companon organization be . started as a medium of membership member-ship in the association. This plan would not require major change in the present articles of incorporation. Other proposals have been made, according to Mr. Berndt, and they will be considered at the meeting Sunday. |
