Show "News Bits About Yestar-Years" 5 Years Ago The Parent-Teachers Association Associa-tion started the ball rolling last Monday evening on a youth work and recreational program, designed to provide a well balanced idle time plan for the youth of Roosevelt. Entertainment at the meeting was provided by Mrs. Clarence Redmond, who presented Barcey Nickle, Shirley Miles and Sharon Webb in a tap dance rontine. Other features included the reading of six original poems by Carol Lynn Cook; a vocal j solo by Elden Winterton and two readings by Ranae Eldredge. President Bert Swain conducted con-ducted the meeting. The Uinta Service Inc., a new super wholesale and retail service station, will officially open its doors in Roosevelt on March 17. It will be operated by Pat McPolin, manager. The viaitation of Grand Lecturer Lec-turer Hazel Speers, Grand Chap, ter, Order Eastern Star of Utah, was observed by the officers and m e m ib e r s of Duveromy Chapter, No. 17, OES at the Masonic Temple March 9. t Mrs. Olga Roberts, worthy matron, entertained in Mrs. Speer's honor at a luncheon at her home at 12 noon. 10 Years Ago The four sons of George Yack. Neola. Utah all enlisted in the US. service in the year of 1942. They are PFC Edward Yack, Cpl. John Yack, and Pvt. Wm Yack, who joined the armed forces, and Lawrence Yack who joined the U.S. Navy. The annual birthday party of the Basin Post No. 64 of the American Legion and Auxiliary was held in the Legion Barracks Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harmston who are visiting here from Texas were honored guests. Bruce Calder, who is supervisor super-visor at Moon Lake informed the press this week that they were snowed in. Mr. Calder stated and we quote, "Moon Lake snowed in for sure; Wind 40 miles per hour with drifts six to nine feet deep, enough said." Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dart entertajned at a delicious turkey dinner Sunday evening for their son, Orville, Jr., who left Mon. evening for Salt Lake City to report for duty in the Air Corps of the VS. The Altrus club met at the home of Mrs. Blanche Murphy Thursday evening. Mrs. Bessie Wardle gave a very interesting book review of "Stormswept." 20 Years Ago I President Roosevelt predicted early today "immediate resumption resumpt-ion of banking activities" throflgh-out the country as a result of the enactment of an emergency bill, speedy passage of which had just been pledged him by congressional leaders. The outstanding activity of the Roosevelt Business and Professional Women's club which is being observed this' week all over the Unite States as National Business and Women's Week, was the te'a I which was given at the home , of Mrs. Clarence L. Ashton Tues. afternoon. Finals in the one act plays of the Roosevelt ward Mutual were held Thursday evening. Mrs. Hazel Ashton, Florence Maw, and Walter E. Atwood were the judges.
