Show I iFire Department 1 Plans Sports Event For Aug. 17 Sports followers, especially of the "Grunt-Groan" world, will have a chance to see a former Ira Dern, in action as a promoter of a sports feature that promises to entertain, as he brings a group of wrestlers and ring performers to Duchesne on Friday, Fri-day, Aug. 17, under the sponsorship sponsor-ship of the Duchesne Fire Department. De-partment. According to Oscar Beebe, general chairman of the sponsoring sponsor-ing committee, Mr. Dern, who in the early '30s and late '20s was disposing of wrestlers from near and far to become one of Utah's headliners, promises in Don Mayne, another Utahn who has established himself a popular popu-lar wrestler, and Jerry ..Rough-house" ..Rough-house" Hollis, a bout that is worthy of any main event; plus the capers of "Wildcat" McCann, Portland, vs. Cowboy Billy Anderson, An-derson, Montana, which should 'provide entertainment well worth the price of admission Added to the wrestling antics, Dern presents The Famous O' Connor, one of the nation's topflight top-flight magicians; UNO. the man who stands on a finger; a head balancer who walks upside down on crutches, and MITSI, a lot of Paris in one little bundle, who entertains in her own talented way. Additional committee members mem-bers who are assisting in the promotion of the project that is designed to help defray some of the expense of the fire department de-partment in getting equipment, etc., to make the City of Duchesne Du-chesne safer from the always threatening hazard of fire, are Chester Lyman, fire chief, and Mayor Otto Johnsen.
