Show ) AVERS By Howard M. Ivory Uirrtah Basin Soil Conservation District News Kelly Redmond is experimenting experiment-ing with some of the range grasses for seed production. He planted 4 acres of Stiff Hair Wheat Grass, 1 acre of Amur-ense Amur-ense Wheat Grass, and 2 acres of Russian Wild RFye Grass. These grasses are being tried for their adaptability to drought conditions and alkaline soils. I they are successful, a seed crop will be produced next year: Volney Boswell at Mt. Emmons Em-mons used blue vitrol to kill the moss in his farm pond. This will increase the space available for fish and prevent loss through the plants using up the oxygen in the water. Farmers with plant-growth problems in their ponds should contact the local SCS office for help in eradicating this growth before fish are planted in their ponds. s C s George Funk at Myton is in-stallin;; in-stallin;; 14 headgates on his farm. S C S Don E. Jones, a graduate from the Utah State Agricultural College, Col-lege, has been employed by the SCS to assist Mr. Swenson with soil surveys.
