Show From the Files 20 Years Ago This Week The Roosevelt Stake quarterly quar-terly conference, held Saturday and Sunday in" the Roosevelt hall, was opened Saturday by President Byron O. Colton, who introduced the speakers. County Coun-ty Agent LeRoy C. Funk, of Duchesne; County Agent E. Peterson, Pe-terson, of Uintah county; Miss Alice Pederson, home demonstrator demon-strator of Duchesne and Uintah counties. Opening prayer was given by Paul S. Hansen and benediction by President F. S. Musser. Sunday's activities included speeches by President Colton, President Ephriam Lambert, Le-roy Le-roy Benson, Joseph H. Lambert, John E. Wiscombe, and President Presi-dent Musser. The old governing board of the Roosevelt Commercial club was elected Wednesday evening for another year, 1930. Members are George H. Harrison, president; presi-dent; Fred C. Ferron, vice-president; and C. L. Ashton, A. C. Harmston, Walter E. Atwood, Paul Wilkins, and Horace All-red, All-red, directors. The Roosevelt city council, meeting at the city hall Monday Mon-day evening with Perry Burn-ham, Burn-ham, manager of the Burnham manufacturing company of Woods Cross, made arrangements arrange-ments for the immediate start of laying the Armco welded pipe from the city wells to the top of the hill just west of Roosevelt. The laying of the six-inch pipe from the last well to be brought into the collecting box will be the first work of the crew. Births reported are, a girl to the John Bakers, Myton, Feb. 10; Lee Andertons, Cedarview, boy, Feb. 12; Gordon Mitchells, Roosevelt, girl, Feb. 8: Raymond Ray-mond Eldredges, Roosevelt, boy, Feb. 10. 10 Years Ago This Week Plans for a new $8,000 municipal mu-nicipal building to house city offices, a library, and the fire station were approved at a meeting meet-ing of the city council Tuesday evening. It will be located on the southeast corner of the city park property. The project was recommended by officials of the National Youth administration who conferred last week with members of the city council. An outpouring of enthusiastic party members turned up Monday Mon-day evening for the GOP Lincoln Lin-coln Day banquet, sponsored by the Republican county central committee. Mrs, Stephen Abbott, of Randlett, chairman of the district coordinating committee for the party, was the chief speaker of the evening. Walter E. Atwood, county chairman, presided and gave a short welcoming- address, after which he introduced Ray E. Dillman, as toastmaster. Dr. R. Q. Warnock was lect-ed lect-ed president of the Roosevelt Commercial club at the annual meeting Wednesday night. Elected Elect-ed to serve with Dr. Warnock were R. H. Harrison, vice president; pres-ident; and H. L. Allred, Lynn Orser, D. D. Nicholson. Homer P. Edwards, and J. C. Zimmerman, Zimmer-man, directors. Outgoing officers offic-ers and directors are R. S. Jordan, Jor-dan, president; H. L. Allred, vice president; William H. Rup-pel, Rup-pel, Jr., secretary-treasurer; and C. L. Ashton, Lynn Orser, Dr. R.- Q. Warnock, C. C.
