Show Year's Top lews Stories Reported By The Standard During 1950 First Kiwanis Kids' Day Project Nets Over $400 For School Playground Sept. 28 A special note of appreciation from J. D. Walker, president of the Roosevelt Kiwanis Ki-wanis club, and Howard Harm-ston. Harm-ston. chairman of the National Kids' Day committee, goes to all who assisted in the very successful program that was sponsored last Saturday. Although a definite financial report has not been made by the committee, it is anticipated that approximately $400 will have been raised with which to buy playground equipment or the elementary school. In addition to the merchants who sponsored the supplement-tary supplement-tary cover for the Roosevelt Standard last week, and supplied sup-plied prizes, candy, gum and soda pop, the following organi zations made financial contributions: contribu-tions: Commercial club. B. P. W. club. Lions, American Legion Le-gion and Auxiliary, Roosevelt Firemen, Junior Culture club, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. |
