Show Tragedies Off 195 B a scorn's Garage Destroyed By Fire; Total Damage Estimated At $20,000 June 15 Bascom's garage was completely destroyed by fire about 10 a. m. Friday, with total damage estimated at $20,-000. $20,-000. Elvyn Bascomb, owner, and his oldest son, Gordon, seriously burned, were rushed to the Roosevelt hospital, where they are now confined. Mr. Bascom said the fire started start-ed when a jack he was moving from under the differential o a car slipped, punching a hole in the gas tank, which was two-thirds two-thirds full, letting the gasoline escape onto the floor. Mr. Bascom, Mrs. Bascom and Gordon were cleaning up the gasoline when it ignited. Mrs. Bascom's stockings were burned off, but she escaped injury. The other three Bascam children were playing outside when the tragedy occured. The severity of the fire was increased by the explosion of an acetylene welder, and the ignition ig-nition of oil and paint in the garage. |
