Show Melba H, Eksund NEOLA A correspondent for the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Standard since May, 1950, Mrs. Melba Hoopes Eksund writes the news and happenings for Neola, where she has resided resid-ed for 5Vi years. Mrs. Eksund was born in Lyman, Ly-man, Wyoming, April 21. 1915. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hoopes reside in Vhiterocks. Mrs. Eksund attended public schools in Whiterocks and Tri-dell Tri-dell and is a graduate of Manila high school, She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Lat-ter Day Saints, now holding! the position of activity counselor in the Y. W.M.I. A and teacher in Relief Society. She was formerly form-erly a Sunday school, Primary and M.I.A. teacher, and was chairman of the LDS Girls' committee. com-mittee. While living in Leota, Utah, in 1940, she served as secretary and treasurer of the Relief Society. She is a member of the Neola Community club. In Mrs. Eksund's opinion agriculture ag-riculture is the county's greatest great-est present asset. She considers the greatest need a reservoir and better roads. When asked if she were the editor of either of Duchesne county's two newspapers what changes she would make she stated, "I think the Standard has been improved greatly these past weekg and I think now the changes would be few, if any." |
