Show Basin USDA Selects New Officers Far SS1 Sax Committees Will Aid In 1951 Program Representatives and employees employ-ees of ihe United States Department Depart-ment of Agricultu.e in the Uin-tan Uin-tan Basin held tiieir regular monthly meeting Tuesday at Vernal, where they discussed a multiple of problems and selected select-ed new officers to serve during the next year. Louis A. Jensen. Roosevelt, Duchesne county agricultural ag-ricultural agent, retiring president, presi-dent, presided over the meeting and was one of the speakers. Selected to lead ihe USDA for 1951 was William Hurst, supervisor su-pervisor of the Ashley National Forest, Vernal, who becomes the new president, succeeding Mr. Jensen. Joseph R. Clayburn, of Bridgeland, was named vice-president, vice-president, and Freda Davis. Uintah Uin-tah county home demonstration agent was reelected secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the group. They assume as-sume office Jan. 1, 1951. The extension service of the two Basin counties was in charge of the program Tuesday, with Mr. Jensen, Clair Acord, Uintah county agent, and Miss Davis appearing as speakers Mr. Jensen discussed the use of demonstrations in the extension exten-sion service and offered new thoughts received recently at the annual convention in Logan. Mr. Acord delved into the dairy industry and traced the growth of artificial breeding in Utah and in the Basin. Both Uintah and Duchesne counties now have two active breeding organizations, or-ganizations, and great progress is predicted for the future. Miss Davis told of the progress being made in the home demonstration demonstra-tion department in Utah, both generally and specifically. The following six general committees were set up to further fur-ther enhance the 1951 program of the USDA in the Basin: Pasture Arnold Taylor, Vernal, chairman; chair-man; Willard B. Mecham, Mt.
