Show Crashing Car Is Fatal To Ute Farmer Of Utahn Raymond Gardner Apporas, 29, of Utahn. was killed Sunday when the car he was driving overturned ov-erturned and pinned him beneath be-neath the vehicle. The physicians physi-cians report indicated that cause of death was a fractured skull and broken neck. Albert Cornpeach. a 15-year-old youth who was the only other passenger in the car, was thrown clear of the vehicle and escaped with only minor scratches. scrat-ches. Clarence Wright and Bill Williams. Wil-liams. Utahn ranchers, found Mr. Apporas' body pinned beneath be-neath the wrecked car and summoned sum-moned assistance. Sheriff Arzy H. Mitchell investigated the accident. ac-cident. The mishap occurred at about noon Sunday. Scene of the wreck was approximately four miles above Strong's Store in Utahn on State Highway 35. Funeral services were held at the Dillman Mortuary, Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, Wednesday at 1 p. m. Mr. Apporas, a Ute Indian farmer, was born Aug. 6. 1922 at Whiterocks, a son of Lew and Leola Gardner Apporas. He moved with his family from Whiterocks to Utahn while still a child. He married Carrie Thompson in Whiterocks in 1940, but the couple later was divorced. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Wanda Tailfeathers and Mrs. Inez Looney, of Utahn; Mrs. Florence Chegup, Whiterocks; White-rocks; and Esther Apporas, Salt Lake City. indb",i!,SI,.. |
