Show Two Altonah Men Hurt In Car Crash, One Critically James L. Weeks, 22, was critically crit-ically injured and Joseph L. Carroll, 19, received minor in juries Saturday night when a 1941 Studebaker sedan, driven by Weeks, went out of control on the bend west of Ioka and turned over four times. Both men are from Altonah. Weeks, who suffered a fractured frac-tured skull, broken ribs, a punctured punc-tured lung, and cuts and bruises, was rushed to Salt Lake City following a preliminary examination examin-ation at the Roosevelt hospital. His condition is reported critical. criti-cal. Carroll received broken ribs and cuts and bruises. He, too, was rushed .to the Roosevelt Roose-velt hospital, but was released Tuesday. According to State Road Patrolman Pa-trolman R. A. Devine, who, along with Marshal Carl Hacking Hack-ing and Deputy Sheriff Claude Wardell, investigated the accident, acci-dent, the car, traveling at a high rate of speed, was unable to make the Ioka bend. Instead it went out of control along side the highway for about 300 feet before it struck the Ioka junction road sign, and then rolled for about 180 feet, turning turn-ing over four times. It finally stopped on its right side, partly on the highway. The car was totally wrecked. |
