Show Mrs. Ellen Bracken Phone 62062 Hurricane "Hazel" Dale Hayes, a son of Mrs. Von Haslem and former member mem-ber of Ballard Ward, who is in the Armed Forces, was on a Ship at sea when Hurricane "Hazel" passed that way. Mrs. Hayes wrote from North Carolina Caro-lina describing the destruction in the wake of the hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Winter and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Voss and family of Salt Lake City were visitors at Sunday school on October 17, and then visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stoilla. Mr. and Mrs. Winter had returned from a trip to Germany just recently, so the Stollas had enjoyed the visit very much. Mrs. Verona Parrlish presented present-ed the literature lesson in Relief Re-lief Society Tuesday. Dianne, the young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blaiine Emerson, Emer-son, was rushed to the Roosevelt Roose-velt hospital early last Wednesday Wednes-day morning with a bad attack of asthma. She was a patient until Friday eventing when she returned home. Again a reminder of the Relief Re-lief Society bazaar which is being held at the Ballard chapel election day. Mrs. Lynn Bracken accompanied accomp-anied Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Peterson Peter-son to Salt Lake City Tuesday. From there she went to Tooele and visited a short time with her mother, Mrs. Grant Row-berry Row-berry and her sister, Mrs. John Clark. She returned to Roosevelt Roose-velt the same evening. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Todd had their infant son blessed at Sacrament meeting on Oct. 17, before Howard left for Virginia. He was given the name of Gregory. MrsCarol Betts presents the teacher's topics in Relief Society So-ciety in place of Mrs. Lora Asay as was stated before. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Winkler Wink-ler and daughter . of Bluebell were visitors at the Sacrament meeting Sunday evening, Oct. 17. Mr. Winkler was one of the speakers. Others who spoke were Russel Todd and John . Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Ercil Bingham of Oakland, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Bingham and two children of Vernal were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shlisler and small daughters were visitors visi-tors at the Monit Poulson home in Duchesne Sunday. Mrs. Poulson Poul-son had been ill that week. Miss Beatrice Stringharn visited vis-ited at the Alterra school on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Melton Benson of Hyrum. Cache County, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus this last week. Mrs. Benson is a Sister of Mrs. Angus. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brighton of St. Marie, Idaho have been recent visitors at the home of Glen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S1. A. Brighton. SEE FOOTBALL GAME The seventh and eighth grade students were excused from class work and were taken to Union High school to witness the football game between Union Un-ion and Ulintalh High schools. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mehner and bafby who have spent some time in Japan are at present visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Bellon. Mrs. Alton Robinson and daughters of California are are also visiting at the Bellon home. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Murray and son Randy are here from Ft. Collins, Colo., visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Von Haslem Has-lem and the Clarence Murrays near Whliterocks. Jay is attending attend-ing school at Ft. Collins. At last reports Jerry Hatch is in a hospital at Odgen and his condition is still serious. Mrs. Hatch is staying at Odgen to be near him. Jay Gates, who is in the Army and is stationed at Ft. Baker, Calif., spent a Short furlough fur-lough with friends in Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hatch and Mrs. Jerry Hatch visited with relatives and friends in Jensen one day last week. Mrs. Darell McMulllin, who has been employed at the Modern Drug store, left on Saturday to go to' Ft. Lee, Virgina to be with her husband while he is stationed station-ed there finishing his boot training. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Gines and family motored to Salt Lake City early Sunday, to visit relatives rela-tives and attend the farewell testimonial for Ensyne Clark, who is leaving this week for his mission. Beverly Squire who is attending attend-ing school at Ogden, has been visiting at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire Mr. and Mrs. Bruice Angus, of Grand Junction, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus this last week. Bart Hatch accompanied his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ross, when they returned to their home last week. Albert Brower of Ogden, was out a few days to' enjoy the deer hunt with Boyd Wlihn and Howard How-ard Dean. Billie Jean Brislbin cared for the children of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jeppson While they went deer hunting with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bingham. Mrs. S. A. Brighton, Mrs. Laurence Brighton and two children and Mrs. Don KilMan motored to Salt Lake City to visit one day last week. Mrs. S. A. Brighton Visited her sister, Mrs. Lillian Haynes of San Diego, California. Mrs. Laurence Brighton visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins, Col-lins, Mr. and Mrs. Erie Hatch, AMen White, Russel Todd, Seth Asay and John Page were among those from Ballard who went to Salt Lake City last week to participate in the LDS Temple excursion. Mrs. Bellon entertained her primary class, The Top Pilots, on Tuesday, Oct. 19 of six boys and six girls. The mothers of the children were special guests. Allen Gines, who is attending a vocational school in Salt Lake City, spent the weekend at home. The school at Alterra will present the annual Halloween party this coming Friday night, OCt, 29. A good deal of time has been spent in the preparation and all are invited to attend. Mrs. Thomas Jeppson, who is in charge of the evenings entertainment entertain-ment wishes to issue an invitation invita-tion to' all parents and children. The Jess Hulllinger's attended a missionary farewell f of a niece in Vernal one evening last week Barbara Hullinger played a piano solo on the program. Mr. Dixon of Salt Lake City was a visitor in Ballard Sunday and was staying at the Russel Todd home. Those from Ballard who received re-ceived certificates for their work with the 4-H Club were: Betrice Lundberg for four years, Barta Jenkins for three years, Spencer Squire for two years. 'P-TA MEETING CALLED The next P-TA meeting will be held at Alterra on Nov. 4. That will be the first Thursday in November. Pres. Erie Hatch announces that there will be an interesting evening program. All parents are urged to attend. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins Col-lins went to Salt Lake City Sun. afternoon to attend the farewell testimonial for Ensyne Clark. Biishop Collins was one of the speakers. They were accompanied accompani-ed by the Misses Carolyn Ross and De Anne Asay who sang a duet. Biishop Collins reports that the trip was one of the worst -ly : he has taken, beoa, i storm. ' "se of |
