Show LESTER KURIP WHITEROCKS Final rites were held last Saturday, Nov. 27, at 1 pjm. in the Whiterocks ward chapel. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for Lester Kurdp, 64, who died Nov. 23, 9:30 a.m. after a long illness in the Roosevelt Hospital. Hospit-al. Services were conducted by Alma Preece, district president of the Uintah Basin Indian Mission. Mr. Kurip was born in Taib-iowa Taib-iowa in 1890, and was married to Rebecca Anthony. She later died and he married Maggie Wyaskit. He is survived by his widow, a son and a daughter, Roger Kurip, Whiiiterocks, and Ella Kurip. Tacorna, Wash.; five grandchildren also survive. ! Burial was in the Farm Creek cemeterv under the direction di-rection of the Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. MARY A. J. BOWDEN ALTONAH (Special) Death came to Mary Amanda Jacob-1 Jacob-1 son Bowden, 77, Alitonah's oldest old-est lady, Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 9:00 p.m. in the Roosevelt Hospital, Hos-pital, following a stroke. She was born Feb. 15, 1877 in Randolph, Ran-dolph, Utah, a daughter of Olavus and Amanda Wilcox Jacobson. She married Heber Bowden, Oct. 28. 1896 in the Logan Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Bowden were among the earliest settlers of Altonah, coming here Feb. 1, 1911. Mrs. Bowden was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and active in church work, serving as Relief Society teacher, secretary and treasurer and before coming to Altonah worked in the Mutual and Sunday Sun-day School. Mr. Bowden died June 28, 1937. Eight children were born to this union, seven of whom are living, 5 boys and 2 girls: Lionel, Lio-nel, Myton; Oliver, Independence; Indepen-dence; Charley. Bonanza; Mrs. Warren Amanda) Foote and j Mrs. Leland (Thressa) Ander- Son, Salt Lake City; and Clinton Clin-ton and Louie, Altonah. Other survivors include 35 grandchildren; grand-children; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Jacobson, Lehi; Acel Jacobson, Randolph, and one sister, Mrs. George (Julia) Smith, of Ely, Nevada. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. in the Altonah ward chapel with Bishop J. Arthur Timothy conducting. con-ducting. Burial was in the Altonah Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary of Roosevelt. CHARLENE L. PENFOLD Funeral services were held Niov. 19. at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Oharlene Longacre Penfold, in Murray, Utah, with Bishop Woods conducting. Mrs. Pen-fold, Pen-fold, who died of cancer, was a resident of Lapoint on Deep Creep approximately 23 years, after which she moved to Ft. Duchesne and then to Leeton She moved to Merced, Calif., where she resided about ten years, and then changed her residence to' Midvale, where she lived three months prior to her death. Speakers at the funeral services ser-vices included Hayden Foster of Lapoint. Roy Taylor of Bridgeland and Rev. Smith of Kaysville. Music was furnished by the Second ward choir of Midvale. Mrs. Penfold was born Sept. 4, 1894, in Lamoni, Iowa, a daughter of Ephraim and Am-rica Am-rica Zerilda Longacre. On Sept. 7. 1916, she married Walter E. Penfold at Ft. Morgan, Colo. She is survived by her husband, hus-band, three brothers and three sisters, and the following children: chil-dren: Ruby Justice, Fort Du-chesne;Vbna Du-chesne;Vbna Walker, Midvale; Chauncey Penfold.
