In a letter to Rulon Craven, superintendent of Campus Association, Chaplain Parsons continued, "we - present, here in the Second ', Infantry Division, we are sponsoring our own orphanage or-phanage with a total of 78 children chil-dren between the ages of 2 and 12. I feel that there are many of you in .our universities- a; borne - who-;W0,uld fke to make a drive: and send anything and everything inthe' way. of toys, clothes, "soap,.rand whatever else would be appropriate and would not spoil." Chaplain Parsons emphasized that in order to get the gifts packaged and shipped in time to arrive for Christmas, they must me mailed by November 1. He suggested that anyone responding respond-ing .first check with the post office for information on the maximum' box .size, and weight permissible' to Korea. '' He pointed out. that the .second .sec-ond infantry division orphanage is only one of manv in Korea, and that any., surplus supplies would be passed on to ' other groups serving the needv there. Prior to joining the Army, Chaplain Parsons fulfilled a mission, mis-sion, for the LDS Church in New Zealand from 1946-49, and graduated from BYU in 1951.
