Wagon Normally Democratic D-.i-chesne County last Tuesday followed fol-lowed the national trend and swept every Republican candidate candi-date into office by convincing majorities, except in two instances in-stances where State Representative Representa-tive Wm. Brotherson squeeked by Lyle Young by 36 votes with Harper still unreported lata Wednesday night. The other close one was for 4-year county commissioner, with Floyd E. Lamb (R) coming from behind early Wednesday to win from incumbent Ray Brown (D) by 88 votes. . General Dwight D. Eisenhower Eisen-hower received a convincing 1960 votes to 1240 for Gov. Adlai E. Stevenson for president. presi-dent. Governor J. Bracken Lea received the smallest majority of any of the state office seekers seek-ers as he won with 1666 votes, as compared with Earl J. Glade's 1523. The new county commissioner commission-er slate for the next two' years will be composed of Floyd Case (D), incumbent; Mr. Lamb (R . of Roosevelt, and Clinton J. Mickelson (R), Duchesne, who won over Ray Horrocks. of Duchesne Du-chesne for the two-year post. Senator C. L. Ashton (D) will vacate his seat in the Utah Senate Sen-ate in favor of B. H. Stringham (R), of Vernal; and incumbent Representative Brotherson will return to the lower house for his third term. The Lien Law proposal received re-ceived a convincing majority for its retention on the Utah statute v books, and 1485 county taxpayers taxpay-ers voted in favor of the bond issue that will give the county a new courthouse, while 709 were opposed to the proposition. |
