Show Second Robbery In Two Weeks Under Probe Roosevelt police and Sheriff Arzy Mitchell are now . investi--gating the robbery Thursday night, July 20, of the local J. C. Penney store. One of the theories being probed is whether wheth-er the thief or thieves may also have been responsible for the July 7 robbery of the Western store. From Penney's several hundred hun-dred dollars in merchandise was stolen, but no cash was taken. Missing articles included suits, sports coats, shirts, pants, and shoes. ... The thieves gained access to the building by prying the back door open with a wrecking bar, which was left behind. In the Western store robbery, losses amounted to about $150, including $40 in cash, taken from the cash register which they forced open, a 30-30 rifle, ammunition, and tools. Access to the building was gained by prying open a skylight. |
