Show Eluge Crowds View July 24-25 Rodeo; MIA Nets $550 The July 24-25 rodeo, sponsored spon-sored by the Stake M.I. A. under un-der the direction of the Roosevelt Roose-velt Riding club, drew crowds of 1,500 and 800 Monday and Tuesday nights, respectively. Altogether, from the rodeo and pioneer celebration, the M. I. A. netted a total of approximately approxi-mately $550, which will be divided di-vided between the 12 wards Most of the sum will go toward financing construction of the Union seminary building. The results of the first day's rodeo events are as follows: Bareback riding Freddie Lone Bear, Randlett, first; An-tone An-tone Apparue, Randlett, second; and Danny Santio, Ouray, third. Saddle bronc Kine Hatch, Willow Wil-low Creek, first; Tom Appah, Duchesne, second; and Dean Chew, Jensen, third. Senior division di-vision calf roping Irvin Miles, Roosevelt, first (time, 19.02 seconds); sec-onds); Dee Allred, Roosevelt, second; and Woody Searle, Vernal, Ver-nal, hird. Ill Junior division calf roping Tommy Lisonbee, Pleasant Valley, Val-ley, first (time, 9 seconds without with-out tying calf); Hal Robins, Myton, My-ton, second; and Darrell Hall, Bennett, third. (This contest was for ropers 16 years of age and younger.) Wild cow milking milk-ing Bob Dean, Roosevelt, first; Irvin Miles, second; and Reed Lyons, Mtn. Home, third. Team roping Fritz Burton, Roosevelt, Roose-velt, and Connor Chapose. Ft. Duchesne, first; Woody and Jay Searle, both of vernal, second; and Irvin Miles and Farrell Hatch, both of Roosevelt, third. No data is available as to the results of Tuesday's events. During the two-day rodeo celebration cel-ebration the Roosevelt Riding club presented Clair Burton with a deluxe Stetson hat for good sportsmanship. Arrangements for the rodeo were handled by the 25 members mem-bers of the Riding club. Cecil Jenkins was announcer; Jack Allred, Oran Cook, and Floyd Lyons, pick-up men; Bob Dean and Connor Chapoose, judges; Ott Beebe and Howard Reynolds, Reyn-olds, calf judges, assisted by Merlyn and Sylvin Renyolds; and Dee Allred and Irvin Miles, arena director. Lee Goodrich was in charge of the catch-pen, Matt Foley was acting secretary, and Tony Lemieux and Ned Gines handled concessions. |
