Show BASIN BRIEFS The Myton Presbyterian church Sunday school will have a special Mother's Day program at the church at 11 a. m. Sunday, Sun-day, May 14. All are cordially invited. Mrs. Stella Clarke, Mrs. J. Tuttle and Mrs. Ted Thomas are in charge of arrangements. A crowd of about 22, representing repre-senting Roosevelt, Vernal, Duchesne, Du-chesne, and upper country towns, participated in the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Trap club shoot, Sunday. Several new shooting features were tried for the first time at the meet. The Whiterocks Bear Dance will be in session May 12 through May 15. Dr. and Mrs. Vere Johnson are the' parents of a 9 lb. 6 oz. daughter, born May 7 at the Roosevelt hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harm-ston Harm-ston a.re the parents of a baby girl, born Tuesday afternoon at the Roosevelt hospital. Word, was received this week that Helen Huish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Huish, was married during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Buchanan Buchan-an spent the weekend in Rich- field. William J. Rivers, representative represen-tative of the Salt Lake City office of-fice of the Social Security administration, ad-ministration, will be at the Roosevelt Roos-evelt post office at 4 p. m., Tuesday, Tues-day, May 16. Deputy Sheriff Claude War-dell, War-dell, Marshal Carl Hacking, Trooper R. A. Devine, and Game Wardens Harry Sprouse and Lynn Nickell attended the police school Monday and Tuesday Tues-day at Vernal. Truman A. Mitchell, of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, received superficial facial burns Friday night when the furnace at his 1 home exploded. Mrs. Mattie Edwards spent Monday and Tuesday in Salt Lake where she attended a state convention of the polio committees com-mittees at Hotel Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bamberger were hosts to the group at luncheon Monday at the Alta club. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Case and two children, of McAllen, Texas, are guests at the home of Mrs. Case's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Markey. Nadfne Fausett, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fausett, Fau-sett, of Ioka, has set a record for nearly nine years of perfect school attendance. She is a freshman student at RHS. Bob Johnstun suffered painful pain-ful facial burns Saturday afternoon, after-noon, when hot metal splashed on him while he was working at the Standard office. Ma.rilyn Lambert, student nurse at the LDS hospital, Salt Lake, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell E. Lambert. Mr. and Mrs. Axel Birch left this week on a vacation trip to New Mexico, Texas and other southwestern states. Charles Iorg, Sr., of Eureka, Calif., visited relatives and friends in Roosevelt and vicinity this week. Mrs. Lola Richens was released releas-ed Friday from the Salt Lake LDS hospital, where she had been a patient for three weeks. Dr. and Mrs. L. S. Saunders, of Salt Lake City, former Roosevelt Roos-evelt residents, are guests at the Dave Huish home. Ray Johnston spent the weekend week-end here. He is working in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Redmond returned from Salt Lake City, Saturday. Mrs. Redmond has been hospitalized there for some time. Bonnie Hanson, a pre - med student at BYU, was recently elected president of the Alta Mitra social unit. She spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Leo Hanson. Marion Felter, who is working work-ing in Denver, and Harvey Creech, of Vernal, spent the weekend here. |
