Show Annual Girl's Day Observed At RE1S The girls at Roosevelt High celebrated one of their biggest and most important events of the school year Friday, May 5 Girl's Day the day when the men step aside and let the weaker-sex take over. The day's events started off with the presentation of a stu-dentbody stu-dentbody assembly, under the direction of JeNee Benson, followed fol-lowed in the afternoon by a fashion show and tea at which the mothers were guests of honor. hon-or. Special guests were Mrs. Homer Ho-mer P. Edwards, Mrs. Paul Wil-kins, Wil-kins, Mrs. Mary Orser, Mrs. R. V. Larson, Mrs. Robert Huish and Mrs. Joseph Shanks. Models for the fashion show were all members of the Home Economics classes, who displayed dis-played clothing of their own design and tailoring. The Home Economics department and F. H.A. club were in charge of arrangements, ar-rangements, with Sally Nelson and Deloris Hutcheon fashion show chairman and tea chairman, chair-man, respectively. LaRae Drol-linger Drol-linger played background music during the show; Renee Stewart Stew-art was the reader. Grace Colton was in charge of the ushers. Exhibits of textile painting, embroidery work, crocheting and other handiwork were also featured at the tea, with Lela Hacking acting as exhibit chairman. chair-man. After the fashion show and tea, the girls adjourned to their homes to don their prettiest dresses, before hopping into the family cars to pick up their dates for the big dance which terminated the busy day of fun and entertainment. Joanne Holgate was dance chairman. Ruth Wills acted as general chairman of this year's Girl's Day activities, assisted by Miss Sutton, home economics teacher. |
