Show Utah Girl's State Candidates Chosen To Represent Area Miss Jean McClellan, of Roosevelt; Miss Eleanor Hack-ford, Hack-ford, of Alterra; and Miss Vel-ma Vel-ma Brummett, of Myton, have been chosen to represent this area ar-ea at the fourth annual Utah Girl's State, to ' be held June i25-July 2 in Logan. '( Miss McClell?., selected by the Girl's State committee of the Roosevelt American Legion Auxiliary. ' Miss Hackford was chosen by Mrs. Myrtle Lambert and Mrs. Ellen Rawlings, Alterra faculty members, with Miss Shanna Bellon, of Ballard, named as an alternate. Miss Brummett is being sponsored spon-sored by the American Legion Auxiliary; Wm. R. Sands Unit 5, Myton. Miss Sherry Dennis is her alternate. All girls are juniors in high school and were selected on a basis of leadership ability, scholastic schol-astic standing, character, and personality. ! The purpose of the Girl's State program is to educate young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities responsi-bilities of American citizenship, and to bring to them a knowledge knowl-edge of the fundamental prin- ! riples of American government i through actual practice. |
