' j f H ' '' Ml r PhotoPeg Oldroyd ji j :: Field Executive eMacc .lakes Basin Tour; Immediate Scout Plans Set Grant Mace, newly employed Boy Scout field executive, has been making a tour of the Basin during the past week, getting' acquainted ac-quainted with key leaders, arranging ar-ranging regular service contacts, and working with district and sectional officers to complete organization personnel, accord- W&i m il Pipl! ! t ' - Grant Mace ing to James E. Bacon, sectional council vice-president. Mr. Mace has been accompanied accom-panied by R. W. Doman, Scout executive from Utah National Parks Council headquarters in Provo, under whose direction supervision Mr. Mace will serve. Immediate Scout plans include in-clude provision for spring camp-oree camp-oree activities, establishment of regular opportunities for bcout advancement, training round-tables round-tables for unit leaders, and preparation pre-paration for summer camp. Mr. and Mrs. Mace will make their home in Vernal, where Mr. Mace's office will serve as Scout headquarters when he is in town. His duties will include participation in meetings, training train-ing courses, and Scout and Explorer Ex-plorer activities in each of the four districts as they are scheduled, sched-uled, planned, and conducted on a district basis. He will work directly with committee chair- men and commissioners and their committees to provide the I necessary service to the various sponsoring institutions, under the program. "Mr. Mace's employment marks the realization of plans in the making during the past year by representatives of the four districts (Duchesne, Moon Lake, Roosevelt, and Uintah) to employ a full-time field executive execu-tive for the two counties of the Basin," Mr. Bacon said. "This will make it possible for the Scout leader and sponsoring institutions in-stitutions to secure the help and guidance needed to strengthen the Scout program in- all its phases in the lives of"oar youth of Scout age." Mr. Bacon and Paul E. Nelson, Nel-son, finance chairman of the Sectional council, express their thanks to all those whose contributions con-tributions to the 1950 quota made it possible to conduct an expanded program and to hire Mr. Mace as field executive. |
