Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mower and small son, of Salt Lake City, are spending two weeks in Roosevelt as guests of Mr. Mowers mother, Mrs. Mary Mower, and in Arcadia with Mrs. Mower's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen. Mr. Mower is here selling hospital insurance to Basin residents. Word has been received that Dr. John R. Bourne, former Roosevelt resident, has accepted a position as one of the B.Y.U. physicians, following a year's study in public health work in the east. The following relatives and friends arrived last week to attend funeral services for David Da-vid D. Gaines: Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Gaines, Mr. and Mrs. Fred ' Barlow, Mrs. Harry Boyce, and . George Sisley, all of Durango, Colo.; Mrs. Ray Duncan,, of Palisade, Colo.; Mrs. Edna Clarke, Glenns Ferry, Ida.; Mrs. Aaron Labrum, Murray; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mitchell and Mrs. Walter Frandsen, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Parley Rawlings, drama teacher at Alterra, left Thursday Thurs-day evening for Salt Lake City, accompanying the winning district dis-trict debate team, Lela Bartlett and Lynn Nebeker, and the winning oration students, Douglas Doug-las Phillips and Lorna Searle, who will enter the state contests. con-tests. All were winners at the district contest held at Carbon Car-bon college, Price, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Richman daughter, Melba, son. Sandy, and LaJean Neilson and Bonnie White, enjoyed last week-end touring southern Utah. Whiterocks was the spot selected se-lected by the following picnickers picnick-ers last Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Laris, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Rawlings and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laris and families. Mrs. Van Winterton left Tuesday Tues-day for Salt Lake City, where she was called due to the death of an uncle, who had resided in Idaho. Wayne Timothy left Tuesday morning to enroll for the spring quarter at Brigham Young University. Uni-versity. He recently returned from an LDS mission to the northern states. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen have moved back to Roosevelt from Pleasant Valley. Reed Lyman will operate the Allen farm. SEWING EXPERT TO GIVE DEMONSTRATION A sewing i expert will precent a demonstration demon-stration of the Pf aff sewing machine Friday and Saturday at the J. C. Penney store. The demonstration is being sponsored spon-sored by. the Western Stores, manager of which is John A. Gilbert. Mrs. Randall Stewart and children chil-dren returned from Salt Lake City Saturday. They were accompanied ac-companied by her mother, Mrs. Sarah Carter and her brother, Jesse Carter. Her mother will remain here for awhile. Also visiting at the Stewart home Monday and Tuesday were Mr.1 Stewart's mother, Mrs. Hattie Ross, of Salt Lake City, and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LaVerl Stewart, of Kaysville. Pvt. Jack M. Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Alexander, Alexan-der, is visiting here enroute to his new base at San Diego. Jack was previously stationed with the Air Force at Denver. Mr. and Mrs, Sam Weiss, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harmston. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Malin, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Schmiett. and Dr. and Mrs. Paul Stringham and families, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Huish enjoyed an Easter outing last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Timothy and daughters, Connie Lee and Venice McDonald, and son. Buddy, drove to Salt Lake City, Sunday, where Mr. and Mrs. Timothy accompanied their son, Tommy, and their grandson, Lee, through the L.D.S. temple, Monday. They returned home Tuesday. A large group took advantage of the beautiful Easter weather and picnicked at Ouray last Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sprouse, Mrs. Emma Sprouse. Patty Goodrich, Mr. and Mrs. Ren Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Al-den Al-den Alexander, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Allred and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Curry and families. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Crumbo, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Labrum, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Murdock and Mrs. Ivy Murdock spent last Sunday picnicking in the Ouray area. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Bowman and daughters, Deanna and Dearwyn, enjoyed the Easter week-end in Salt Lake City. |
