Show Tom Rowley Goes To State fig Speech Contest Today, Thursday, Tom Rowley, Row-ley, Roosevelt high school agriculture agri-culture student and future farmer farm-er of the Basin, is in Salt Lake City where he is representing the Uintah Basin in the Utah finals of the annual "Ag Talk-Fest." Talk-Fest." Tom won the regional honors last Thursday at Alta-mont Alta-mont in competition with entries en-tries from Altamont, Alterra and Uintah high, of Vernal. "Rural Life and its Service to the World and Our Country,'' was the title of Tom's address, and it is on this subject he will attempt to make a trio to the national quarter finals in the near future. Other contestants and their subjects are: Billy Ralphs, Altamont, "Utah Pastures" Pas-tures" Douglas Phillips. Alterra Alter-ra "The Great River;" George Rolf. Uintah. "Utah's Water Supply." Alterra was second, Vernal third, and Altamont, fourth. Judges of the contest were Bill Evans, Farrell Mohlman, and Doyle Swallow. In the parlimentary proced ure contest, Uintah high, of Vernal, Ver-nal, was adjudged the winner, with Roosevelt second. Alterra third and Altamont fourth. This is the first year for this contest, con-test, but it will probably become be-come an annual affair. By winning the ag speech contest, Tom Rowley makes it possible for his school to display dis-play the "Sather Trophy, which was donated by Robert Sather, owner-manager of Sather's Jewl-ery, Jewl-ery, for one year. He also won an individual trophy for his school. The revolving trophy will become the property of the school which wins it the most times in a five-year period. per-iod.
