Show Tax Collection Costs Are Up Report Reveals Cost of assessing and collecting collect-ing taxes for Duchesne county during 1950 amounted to $9,976.41 or $227.59 more than for the 1949 cost, which totaled $9,748.82. These figures are shown in the semi-annual report re-port prepared by Porter L. Mer-rell, Mer-rell, county clerk. Out of the $9,976.41. $5,782.05 was spent by the county assessor as-sessor for his salary, deputies salaries and travel expense. The treasurer used $4,194.36 for official of-ficial salary and deputy hire. Expenses of assessing and collecting col-lecting from Jan. 1 to June 30, 1950, was $4,011.28 for the assessor as-sessor and $1993.98 for the treasurer; from July 1 to Dec. 31, 1950. $1,770.77 for the assessor as-sessor and $2,200.38 for the treasurer. Taxes assessed for the year 1950 and charged to the county treasurer for collection amounted amount-ed to $308,721.76. Apportionment of the cost of assessing and collecting to the various taxing units shows that the incorporated cities were charged for their share of the costs as follows: Duchesne, $278.22; M y t o n, $72.39: Roosevelt, $776.82; and Tabiona. $10.14. |
